Extra-curricular activities enhance student life! What a child can learn from responsibility, team-work, and participation in clubs and organizations is invaluable to their overall development and well-being. St. John the Baptist School tries to provide many extra-curricular activities to support the growth and learning of our students. If a student doesn't see a club that interests them, we invite them to develop a new one!
Currently, the following clubs and activities are offerred:
Prayer Club was started by students of our school. All are welcome to join this weekely lunch meeting. Mrs. Debbie Aumann is the advisor to this club and activities include praying together, Rosary, making cards and spritual bouquets for friends who need us, helping to increase our Catholic Identity within the school, praying for the intentions of our student body, and learning more about our faith.
Drama Club/Talent Show: This is a club run by interested parents within our school. Typically members of this club prepare one play a year and/or prepare the all-school talent show. If you are interested in volunteering with this club, please contact the office.
Music Lessons: Students can take band lessons within their school day.
Math Club: This is open to all 5th through 8th graders with Ms. Schels and the 8th graders supervise. Typically, this club meets one time a week durning lunch.
Student Council: Student representatives in grades 1-8 are elected by their class to meet once a month. Our student council focusses on bettering our school, planning service projects and integrating our faith into student life.
Athletics: Students in 5th through 8th grade are invited to participate in athletics. Currently Girl's Volleyball, and girls and boys Basketball, Tennis, and Track and Field are currently offerred at our school or in collaboration with the Public Middle School. Pom Poms is offerred for any student in first through 8th grade.
There are various "student-inititated" clubs within our school. As long as the Club has a positive purpose and an adult advisor it can be offerred.
